cricket at BOUNCE has opened.
Bounce opened its doors on
Saturday 16th January 2010. The aim of the centre is to provide an
excellent cricket training facility and to make quality coaching
accessible to the local community.
A fantastic facility with a true bounce! Four
lanes or complete hall hire.
Upstairs viewing gallery.
The only special clothing requirement
is a pair of trainers; the centre has all the equipment needed.

The Midland Cricket Foundation (Bounce) was
formed in January 2010 by three local cricketers - Heath Parnell (Bedworth
CC), Simon Wordsworth (Atherstone CC) and Matt Pickering (Cov & NW CC),
who are now the Trustees of the charity.
Bounce is an indoor cricket practice facility
with four lanes and a viewing balcony.
The purpose of Bounce is to provide the local
community with a safe environment, which local cricket clubs or
individuals can hire to practice cricket.
The idea was only made
possible when a Midland business/ sportsman Gary Beresford kindly
donated £60k worth of equipment/netting to the cricket charity. Sadly
Gary is no longer with us after losing his battle with cancer.
With Gary’s help the
local area have something to be proud of and for the past 4 years,
hundreds of kids have been introduced to cricket because of this great
facility. Many adults have also been able to improve their own game,
hence improving the standard of cricket in the local area.
The centre has run very smoothly for the past
four years, offering part time jobs to young students and to local
However, twelve months ago the centre was hit
with a hammer blow when the landlord put the rent up by 45%. The
Trustees have worked very hard to keep the centre open and have managed
to secure some funding to help pay for the increase in rent. However,
the centre now needs to invest in some equipment and will need extra
funding to pay for this.
The centre needs to
purchase 4 mats to protect the current playing surface and at the same
time this will improve the pace and 'bounce' of the playing surface.
These four mats
will cost a total of £2500.
A fund raising weekend has been set up for 4th
and 5th October, when hopefully the local cricketers will help out with
a charity car wash. In the mean time we would be most grateful if any
local businesses would be willing to help out by donating towards the
